Chinese BBQ Tofu with Rice and Green Beans
Ingredients
For the Tofu:
- 1-2 Extra Firm blocks of tofu (plain or smoked)
- Wicked Kitchen Asian BBQ Sauce
- Vegetable oil
- 1 cup Rice flour/starch
- 1 cup Corn flour/starch
- 3 Tbs Wicked Sesame Togarashi
- 1 tsp Garlic granules
- 1 Tbs Black pepper
- 1 tsp Salt (optional)
- Black and white sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
- Touch of soy milk
For the Green Beans:
- Green beans
- 1/2 tsp Sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp Wicked Sesame Togarashi
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 Garlic cloves
Instructions
Prepare the Tofu:
- Tear the tofu apart into bite-sized pieces.
- In a medium-sized bowl, mix together rice flour, corn flour/starch, sesame togarashi, garlic granules, black pepper, and salt (optional).
- Drizzle a touch of soy milk over the tofu.
- Dredge each piece of tofu in the flour mixture to coat evenly.
- Set aside.
Shallow Pan-Fry the Tofu:
- Heat a cast iron pan (or shallow pan) on medium-high heat until hot.
- Add enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom of the pan, plus a little extra.
- Shallow pan-fry the tofu pieces 4-6 at a time, rotating to cook all sides until golden brown and crispy (about a minute or so per side).
- Place cooked tofu pieces on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- Set the oil aside to cool down.
Prepare the Green Beans:
- Snip the tops off the green beans.
- Line up and slice the green beans on a slight angle.
- In a bowl, add the sliced green beans, sesame oil, sesame togarashi, salt, and pepper.
- Toss to coat evenly.
Cook the Green Beans:
- Heat another cast iron pan and add just a drop of oil.
- Add the green beans to the hot pan and cook for 3-4 minutes, looking for browning on each side.
- Slice the garlic cloves super thin and add them to the green beans.
- Stir in the garlic and remove from heat.
Combine Tofu and BBQ Sauce:
- In a large bowl, add the pan-fried tofu.
- Pour the Asian BBQ Sauce over the tofu.
- Add a little drizzle of sesame oil.
- Toss to coat the tofu pieces evenly.
Bake the Tofu and Green Beans:
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) with convection.
- Assemble the BBQ tofu onto a baking paper (parchment) lined baking sheet evenly.
- Spread the green beans onto a separate parchment paper lined baking sheet.
- Bake the tofu for 10-15 minutes and green beans for about 10 minutes.
Assemble and Serve:
- Serve the Asian BBQ tofu with rice (white or brown) and the cooked green beans.
- Garnish with black and white sesame seeds (optional).
- Drizzle with extra sauce from the tofu, if desired.

Chinese Take Away – High Protein Meal Prep
Asian BBQ Tofu, rice and green beans
INGREDIENTS:
1 – 2 Extra Firm blocks, plain or smoked
Wicked Kitchen Asian BBQ Sauce
Veg oil
1 Cup Rice flour/starch
1 cup Corn flour/starch
3 Tbs Wicked Sesame Togarashi
1 tsp garlic granules
1tbs black pepper
1 tsp salt (optional)
Black and white sesame seed for garnish. (optional)
•Tear tofu apart into bite size pieces
•In medium size bowl add and mix together all dry ingredients to create the coating.
•Dredge each piece of tofu to cover evenly and set aside.
•On medium high heat, heat cast iron (shallow pan) until hot. Add even oil to cover the bottom and a little extra.
•Shallow pan fry the tofu pieces 4 - 6 at a time making sure to rotate and turn to cook all sides.
•Repeat this process until all pieces are cooked. Place cooked tofu pieces on paper towel lined plate to drip-dry any excess oil.
•Pre-Heat oven 200c/400f
•In large bowl add Asian BBQ Sauce, then add tofu and toss to coat pieces evenly.
•Assemble onto a baking paper (parchment) lined baking sheet evenly and Heat for 10-15 minutes in oven
to finish.
•Best served with veg and rice of your choice.
Options:
Feel free to use different spices for different flavors, they are all interchangeable.
Mix and match veggies to accompany this dish.
