Tricks That Turn Veg Into Pure Gold

Garlic White Pizza with Broccoli, Pepper, and Hot Italian Tempeh Sausage

Ingredients

For the Cauliflower Garlic White Sauce:

  • 1 medium head Cauliflower, quartered
  • 5-8 garlic cloves
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup Nutritional yeast
  • 150g vegan cheese, shredded (reserve some for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

For the Pizza Toppings:

  • 1 head of broccoli, cut into florets
  • 1-2 bell peppers, sliced into 1 inch julienne
  • Hot Italian Tempeh Sausage (recipe linked in description)
  • Vegan cheese, remaining from sauce ingredients

Other:

  • Pizza base (pizza dough, french bread, large lavash, thick pita, or english muffins)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cauliflower Garlic White Sauce:

    • Add the quartered cauliflower and garlic cloves to a pot with 2 cups of water.
    • Add a pinch of salt.
    • Bring to a boil and cook until the cauliflower is very soft and easily breaks apart. Ensure there's still a little liquid remaining.
    • Transfer the cauliflower and garlic (and remaining liquid) to a blender.
    • Add 1 cup of nutritional yeast, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and most of the vegan cheese (reserve some for topping).
    • Blend until smooth and creamy. The sauce should be thick, not runny.
    • Let the sauce sit for a minute to allow it to thicken further. It will last 4-5 days in the refrigerator.
  2. Blanch the Broccoli:

    • Place the broccoli florets in a large bowl.
    • Pour hot water from a kettle over the broccoli to cover it.
    • Let it sit for about 5 minutes, until the broccoli turns bright green.
    • Strain the broccoli and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Pizza Bases and Toppings:

    • Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
    • Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
    • Cut the lavash (or other chosen base) in half if necessary to fit on the baking sheets.
    • Slice the bell peppers into 1-inch julienne strips.
    • Crumble or slice the Hot Italian Tempeh Sausage.
  4. Assemble the Pizzas:

    • Spread a fair amount of the cauliflower garlic white sauce on each pizza base, leaving a small border.
    • Sprinkle a little vegan cheese over the sauce.
    • Top with blanched broccoli florets, sliced red peppers, and the Hot Italian Tempeh Sausage.
  5. Bake the Pizzas:

    • Place the baking sheets with the pizzas in the preheated oven.
    • Bake for 15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the toppings are heated through.

WHITE PIZZA:

Makes 4 large white pizzas.

1 medium head Cauliflower, quarter cut

5 -8 garlic cloves

2 cups water, boil until soft and blend with

1 cup Nutritional yeast

150g of your favorite vegan cheese

1 teaspoon black pepper

Top with

1 head of broccoli, cut into florets

1-2 bell peppers, sliced into 1 inch julienne

HOT italian tempeh sausage (link above)

Use whatever base you have, pizza dough, french bread, large lavas, thick pita, heck even english muffins work. Be as creative as you want. The world is your kitchen.
